Importance of Proper Drainage

Properly functioning storm sewers are extremely crucial in Northwest Ohio, as the area receives a fair amount of precipitation around the year.  When it rains, or when snow and ice melt, the water needs a place to go.  Storm sewers collect the water and function as mode of transportation to take the water to an appropriate outlet. 

Obtaining proper drainage for a location involves proper planning of the site, professional installation, and quality materials.  The asphalt surface must be properly designed and constructed in such a way that excess water drains into the catch basins, in turn flowing into the storm sewers.  If this process does not work and the water sits on the asphalt, it can cause it to deteriorate and weaken, in turn increasing costs for maintenance and repair.

Storm Sewer Installation Process

Once an optimal design for the storm sewers and adjacent pavement is completed and approved, Buckeye Asphalt Paving Co. performs the necessary excavation work in preparation for the storm sewer installation.  The catch basins, either precast or cement block, are installed to required depths and sizes.  Then conduit piping is placed and connected to the basins and the final outlet.  After proper backfilling of the pipe trenches and around the basins, the site preparation is completed to ready the area for the new asphalt pavement.
